Explain "Melting Sea Stars"

Recently sea stars have been turning into piles of flesh.
They have been melting in a way. The scientists have been trying to figure out
the cause of this occurrence. They have tried many different experiments but
they came upon the conclusion that this was the doing of a virus. The scientist
filtered extracts from sick sea stars to eliminate any infections agents larger
than a virus. The virus is a single strand of DNA virus known as densovirus
which is related to the virus found in Hawaiian sea urchins. This virus has
been present from as far back as 1942 according to museum specimens. This is a
serious concern because of its widespread range of the present day
condition.

Unit Artefact Reflection
There are many artefacts in the unit of chemistry. Many
elements and chemicals react with each other. One of the most interesting
artefact is the reactions is no reaction. Gold is a very nonreactive. Gold
cannot be dissolved in hydrochloric acid. Gold's valuable because of its
nonreactive properties. The only thing gold can react to halogens, for example
gold will react over time to chlorine at room temperature, AuCl3. The
reactive materials that were witnessed in the science lab did not react like
this to the different elements they were exposed to. The element gold is highly
non-reactive and highly valuable. The magnesium (Mg) that was lit in class
produced light and heat therefore it was a chemical reaction and had oxidized.
Gold is not vulnerable to such effect in most cases in nature it is only when
the element is put into a halogen that gold is oxidized. If you possess gold it
is a handy thing to know that your precious material will not tarnish. It is
safe to put your gold in storage and not worry about it.
Reaction
The gold is completely submerged in the sulphuric acid but is is not dissolving.

Dear, Mr. Weir
I have learned a lot from the past 6 months. My best subject
had to be chemistry. I was very interesting topic, especially the element’s
ionic and covalent bonding. The other part that was interesting to me was the
element’s discovery documentary we watched in class. That was the most fascinating
part of the unit. The history aspects of this unit were the best, the parts of
the unit that we had to do work were the worst. My previous ideas about
chemistry were very blurry, before this unit I had no idea what a ionic bond
was. This course cleared up many misconceptions I had in the past.
I have done much to increase my understanding of chemistry,
I tried to study the concepts that I didn’t get, for example the he covalent
bonding Luis dot diagram. I had to study that for some time to get it. The
concept was unclear partly because you did not explain it properly in class.
The thing I would like to work on is clarifying something I don’t understand. I
have problems asking for help but most of the time I don’t need help, I like to
think of myself as a very understanding student as in I understand concepts the
first few times I deal with them.
This course has been fun at times and boring at other times.
These two traits are needed to have a healthy learning environment. I don’t
have any suggestions for the course. This has been fun to attend. I have
learned much more than expected. We still have one more unit to do and I have
that this one will be fun to.
